More on Facebook and Privacy

Apparently, some users of Facebook believe that they can prevent others from using their content without permission by posting a disclaimer or declaration on their page. Below is a sample disclaimer used by some.

“I declare that my rights are attached to all my personal data, drawings, paintings, photos, texts etc… published on my profile. For commercial use of the foregoing my written consent is required at all times.”

If only life were that simple.  Unfortunately, social media users can’t change Facebook’s privacy terms or any other terms of service simply by posting a disclaimer or declaration. At present, the only real way to opt out out of Facebook’s Terms of Service is not to use it.
