Lawyers Continue to Misuse Social Media
The latest incident involves a white Democratic attorney from White Plains, NY and a black Republican sheriff who lost his bid to become the state’s lieutenant governor. Shortly after the sheriff’s election day loss, the attorney sent the following tweet
At least initially, the attorney did not see the problem with his tweet. Fortunately, he eventually saw the error in his ways and retracted the tweet, however, by this time the damage was done. The attorney ultimately apologized and resigned from his position as chairman of the New York City Bar Association’s medical malpractice section. In his resignation letter he wrote the following:
“As you know, I made a grave mistake by attempting to use humor to personally convey my frustration with the New York Republican Party through a tweet that upset a great number of people.”
No word on whether he also tweeted his resignation.
